Provide Me with Biblical Understanding About - 1 John 3:15

Whenever I think of a Christian, I think of someone who believes that they have a pretty good understanding about Christianity, but this isn't the case always. Often I run into Christians who will quote out of the Bible, but can’t provide me with Biblical understanding.

Remember, this doesn't apply to every Christian, but for the most part it seems like most of them have very little understanding about the Bible. Let me give you an example of what I'm talking about.

1 John 3:15 (NIV) Anyone who hates his brother is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life in him. This Bible verse sounds simple, but could it be true, that anyone who hates their brother, doesn't get to go to heaven.

I'm not talking about reading the Bible verse, I'm talking about understanding the Bible verse. What does it mean, when the Bible says,” Anyone who hates his brother is a murderer.” What kind of hate are they talking about?

These are some of the problems I have with the Holy Bible. There are plenty of verses like this that run through out the book and quite frankly, they are extremely confusing, especially when they contradict another Bible verse.

When they talk about hating my brother, are they talking about a strong feeling of dislike, for my sibling or are they talking about every man on earth that is alive today or possibly those that have already perished?

This is the best way that I can provide you with any Biblical understanding about this Bible verse. If I read it without trying to put some sort of secret message into it, it simply states that anyone who hates their brother will not have eternal life.

So beware, this message goes out to all Christians. If you have ever hated your brother (how ever you interpret the word brother) you will not have eternal life (when they refer to eternal life, the Bible is usually talking about heaven)

This isn't the only Bible verse, that most people struggle with, there are plenty of more, to find them all you need to do is start reading the Bible.
