For Christians
First let's read this Bible
verse: James 1:5 If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who
gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given
to him. Now it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure this Bible
verse out. If I'm reading it correctly, I would be able to ask God
for the wisdom and he will give it to me.
Now if you'll agree with me me, continue reading the article. If you
can somehow twist the Bible verse into something different, I would
recommend rereading James 1:5 a couple of times and then reading the
rest of the article. We have to agree, that James 1:5 is easy to
understand.
Let me give you an example of a situation that could happen to
anyone: Your having some problems with your cars transmission. You
ask God for the wisdom so that you can solve the problem (repair the
transmission). A few days go by and you don't see any signs, no one
speaks to you in your dreams or gives you any clues or help finding
any wisdom.
About a month goes by and you mention your problem to the church
elder. He looks at you confused and then asks you if you had been
looking for any specific signs and you reply,” yes, everywhere and
all the time.”
Your pastor seems confused and ask you, Have you went to the
library? No, I haven't, why.. should I have? Well if you're looking
for wisdom, it's everywhere, you need to pay attention to the signs.
You agree with what the church elder said, go down to the library
and check out a book on, "How to Repair Your Transmission." A
miracle happens, you gain the knowledge and are able to repair your
vehicle.
Could this be something that God gave you? It could have been that
simple, but there are other answers to this scenario. When you ask
God for help, how do you know for a fact that he's actually helping
you? Did he leave you a sign somewhere, was the auto repair manual
made by a monastery or did something mysterious happen that led you
to believe that God was helping you?
The truth is, you can ask for the wisdom and receive it, but we
can't prove who or what actually gave you the wisdom. If you truly
believe that God was responsible, you won't have to look far for
validation. However, if you're skeptical, start asking other people
for things and see if you receive them, without God's help.
Even if you're asking God for help, do you know for a fact that it
is the Hebrew God from the Old Testament, or could it be another
God. Sometimes a little education can set you free from your current
religious beliefs.
