This woman was crushed and it took her years to recover from this incident, let alone share it with you. I'm not going to divulge this woman's name, but for the sake of this story, we will call her Mary. Mary and her husband had been going to the same church with the same pastor for over 15 years and for 10 of those years, her husband had been having an affair with the pastor's wife and to make matters worse, the pastor knew about this but couldn't bring himself to do anything about it. He feared that the congregation would persecute him and he really enjoyed his position in the community. Listening to this woman, share her story with me, got me thinking about all of the other problems, with other church members all over the world. How many other people were in the same predicament and were afraid to do something about it. Even though the pastor of the church didn't do anything about it, when Mary found out that her husband was having an affair and had been having an affair for a long time, she immediately filed for divorce and quit going to church. She told me that she read a book called,” Leaving the Fold,” and it got her thinking about the Christian religion and how it had brainwashed her to believe that this is the only way and everyone else was wrong. To make a long story short, Mary quit the Christian faith entirely and is now a devout Buddhist. She is remarried and is one of the happiest people that I have ever met. Sometimes when something bad happens, something actually good comes from it and this woman is a great example for others to follow. |
