Could Jesus Read or Write

By Greg Vanden Berge Articles For Christians

The Bible states clearly that Jesus could write and if he could write there is a good chance that he could read, this should make sense to anyone who believes in the Bible. I could only find two versus in the Bible that mentioned Jesus writing and here they are.

John 8:6 (New International Version Bible) They were using this question as a trap, in order to have a basis for accusing him. But Jesus bent down and started to write on the ground with his finger.

1 John 2:1 (New International Version Bible) My dear children, I write this to you so that you will not sin. But if anybody does sin, we have one who speaks to the Father in our defense—Jesus Christ, the Righteous One.

Now if Jesus could read and write, why wouldn't he have written something for the Bible. We have four different gospels that give us four different variations of Jesus' life. Is one of them right? Are all four of them right and if so why do they have different variations, of the same event? Could all four of the Gospels actually be wrong?

If Jesus would have written a book about his life or even a book about what he expected future Christians to do, it would have saved them a lot of trouble. Christianity and the Bible, along with other religions throughout the world are confusing and difficult to understand. They are full of scriptures that don't make sense and sometimes contradict each other.

If Jesus would have written something, it would have been a sign to future followers that he actually wanted to start a new religion, however since there isn't anything, that leaves us with the question, did Jesus actually want to start a new religion. We now know that Jesus could read and write according to the book of John, if how ever the book of John isn't accurate, we could be back at square one.
