Dealing with Fundamental Ideologist Christians

What is a fundamentalist? This is the definition that I found online: A religious or political movement that is based on a literal interpretation and strict adherence to doctrine.

What is ideology? A system of social beliefs that are closely organized and are formed from economic, political or religious beliefs.

Now most of you know what Christianity is, especially if you're a Christian. However, here's a basic definition of Christianity. A religion that follows Jesus Christ teachings and one that is based on the life and teachings and examples of Jesus.

Now with that said, I think you have a pretty good idea of what the agenda would be for a fundamental ideologist Christian. Someone who has a clear understanding (understands the Bible literally) and practices the teachings that are based on the life of Jesus Christ, closely.

A fundamentalist Christian wouldn't be much different. A simple Christian might not be that far away from a fundamentalist but most people confuse honest fundamentalist Christians who practice in peace, with those extremists Christians seeking converts.

I often hear people referred to themselves or others as fundamentalist Christians. These people get put in a box because they have closed their minds to any other possibilities. Christianity is the only way and anyone who doesn't understand that is viewed as an ignorant, uneducated moron, who is going directly to hell.

These people will go out of their way to voice their opinions, until they are asked difficult questions about their religion. At that time, they simply quit asking questions and leave, sometimes, never to be seen again. Thank God, and I mean thank God most of them leave, never to return. Amen and double hallelujah to that one.

My solution to dealing with these people is to have a few simple questions to ask them and these questions can be attained through Bible study. When ever one of them starts spouting off in full conversion mode, I will often ask them, if they know what the Council of Nicaea was?

That's always a good one. If they do know what the Council of Nicaea was, I will ask them how Jesus became God, when he was a man, just three centuries earlier.

Now if that doesn't stop them, you might have to pull out the heavy artillery and that might require, asking them how they feel about homosexuality, abortion, leadership roles for women in their church, spanking their children and the list goes on and on.

The larger your knowledge is about the Bible, the easier it is to frustrate a motivated religious converter.

Once you get to this point, you could have some angry Christians and you don't want that. Some of these people will get physically violent if frustrated enough but most of them simply walk away irritated. They view your encounter as a failure to convert a weak minded Christian into a weak minded convert.

And that covers the fundamentalist part of religious fundamentalist.
