Do Some Research before Giving Advice

I was responding to an e-mail today, about a man who trying to provide me with some helpful information about Jesus. He told me that all I need to do is a little reading in the Bible and believe in God and I would know the truth. This got me thinking about other Christians that are in the process of advising instead of researching.

I myself am guilty of this process, I have given advice my whole life, without researching the subject completely. This is a normal behavior for most humans and I'm no different. Some of the advice that I am giving to people right now, might not be acceptable to me in the future.

I'm in the process of educating myself about Christianity, atheism and other religions around the world. As I learn more about these subjects, I will be able to provide plenty of useful information to mankind. My hope is to provide humanity, with beneficial and honest information, instead of manipulated hearsay.

This information just doesn't apply to Christianity, it applies to other religions and spiritual practices. How can you give advice, when you haven't done any research? You don't need to hold a Ph.D. in Christianity, to give advice about Christianity but you should at least understand some of the information that you are sharing with others.

If you're going to be advising someone about the benefits of Christianity, like heaven or hell, you should have a pretty good understanding on these topics.

Often I find people telling me how wonderful it is, to know that they're going to heaven. When I start to explain to them some of the things that are written in the Holy Bible, they seem confused. They will often questioned me, but I'm the one who's providing the education.

I have found, that most people who are interested in religion, including Christians, know very little about their religion.
