End Suffering Forever - Buddhist Philosophies

By Gregory B  Articles For Christians

What you are about to read, isn't a top secret message from a special organization, its common knowledge within Buddhist philosophies. End attachment and you will end suffering.

What does this mean exactly? Pay attention, because this can change your life forever and believe it or not, this is something that actually makes sense.

The base of all suffering comes from attachment. I'm going to say this again, because it's extremely important and I would like you to pay attention. The base of all suffering comes from attachment.

Let me give you an example, your grandparents give you an extremely rare piece of jewelry and tell you, that it's worth $75,000. You go to your local jewelry store, and they verify, that it is worth at least $75,000, if not more.

There's a good chance that you have an attachment to either the piece of jewelry as a sentimental value or something that is now worth a lot of money. This piece of jewelry, can bring you great pleasure, but can also bring you a lot of pain.

The pleasure comes from you knowing that you have something that is sentimental from your grandparents and it's worth a lot of money. Now let's focus on the pain, something happens to your piece of jewelry, it gets lost or damaged and isn't even worth $6,000.

You're probably going to punish yourself and blame yourself for the damage. You should have done a better job taking care of this object. You are now suffering from blame and are extremely unhappy. It's your attachment to this object that's bringing you the pain and suffering.

Here's the second example, your grandparents give you a ring that's worth four dollars, something happens to it and now its worthless. You're probably not going to be affected by a four dollar ring and there might not even be any suffering or blame.

Can you see what I'm talking about now? By attaching value to your ring, you can actually suffer when it's damaged. Without attaching any value to the ring, there will be very little suffering, if any at all.

What if you felt the same way about the $75,000 ring as you did about the four dollar ring and something happened to it? You wouldn't suffer or blame yourself, because there would be very little attachment to this object.

The next time you suffer, because of the loss, think about the attachment your attachment to that specific object and you should start to understand why you are suffering.
