| Examining the Book of Genesis | ||||

By Gregory B Articles For Christians I was watching a video the other day when the speaker told me something that I knew about, but never put two and two together. In the first chapter of Genesis, it refers to Adam and Eve being created together. That's when it registered to me that something I learned my whole life might be wrong. I was taught that God took a rib from Adam and created Eve. I can't tell you how many times I heard the story of Adam and Eve, but never heard the second story. The weird part about this is, the second story is actually the first story in the book of Genesis. While the first chapter states that Adam and Eve were created together, the second chapter says something completely different. Adam was created first and then God created a couple of rivers, some plants and animals and then he thought it would be a good idea for Adam to have a helper. That's when God created Eve. This of course is the most familiar story told about Adam and Eve and I would imagine that millions of Christians have never even heard the first story, which tells me that very few Christians ever read the Bible. This isn't in the middle of the Bible, these are the first two chapters in the Bible. What does this mean and why was it written this way? Was the Bible meant to confuse the serious followers who were seeking the truth? Was the Bible meant to confuse, only intelligent people but provide faith for others who weren't interested in evidence or facts? I would suggest that you examine the first two chapters of Genesis for yourself. Never take anyone's word for anything, spoken or written about Christianity. It won't take long, open up your Bible and start reading and you will be surprised like I was. |
