Free Will in Christianity - Where Is It?

Free Will seems to confuse a lot of Christians and even those who belong to other religions all over the world. Are we suppose to be obedient and follow our creator or do we actually have the ability to pick and choose. Isn't that what free will is all about, picking and choosing, whatever you truly desire out of life? The ability to live freely.

If I have to spend all of my time, following religious rules that have been written in the Bible and provided for me, by my creator, do I really have free will? If I want to stay home from church one Sunday, am I going to feel guilty about the decision that I had just made?

It seems like we can't have it both ways. If I need to follow the rules, my free will, will be extremely limited. If I truly do have free will, I should be able to make any choice about my life and it shouldn't be influenced by anything, including Christianity.

Here's another argument. We need to obey the laws first and enjoyed free will second. This provides us with another form of limited free will, but often can be convinced that this form of free will is better than those choices in other countries or even those who study other religions.

Our free will is the ability to think and act upon those thoughts, freely. If those thoughts are constrained or limited in any way, we don't really have complete and total free will. If you're confused about what I'm talking about, let's go outside of religion for a second.

Think about all the rules and regulations that you follow on a daily basis. Those rules and regulations that have been set by your local governments, place of employment and even within your family.

If you stop and think about it, very few people actually live a life totally free, with the ability to do whatever they choose to.

The next time that someone tells you that their religion provides them with a free will life style, you can simply ask them to elaborate on their beliefs. It should be interesting.
