By Greg Vanden Berge Articles For Christians God Said What Videos I think religious followers get this statement confused with a few things. Whenever I ask certain religious people a question that's a little too difficult to answer, they will often respond with,” God tells me to.” When I was in kindergarten or maybe elementary school and the teacher wanted a response to a question that she had just taught to the class, you could expect to answer her like a parrot. If this response was correct, your teacher will put a little smiley face on your paper and everything will look great. This doesn't seem to work in the real world. If your boss ask you a question and you don't provide the correct response, you could find yourself looking for other employment. If your children do not respond correctly, they could find themselves in a difficult situation, like being disciplined for something they did wrong or something that you perceived that they did wrong. If you're truly interested in practicing your religion, it's your obligation to educate yourself and become familiar with the information that your religious textbooks provide you with. Just because someone tells you to do something, doesn't mean that it's in your best interest to follow their instructions. You wouldn't jump off of a cliff because everyone else did. If your God tells you to live a moral life and do your best to remain a follower of that particular religion, is that what you're going to do. What if your curiosity leads you to pick up a book about another religion? What if you don't sincerely believe that your religion is entirely correct? You can perceive God as an almighty all-powerful being in whatever religion you choose to follow. You can live in a world of fear and guilt if you don't follow the instructions provided within it or you can break the chains of religious bondage and start gathering information outside of your particular religious organization. Just because God tells you to do something, doesn't mean that you need to live in ignorant slavery your whole life. Educate yourself about your particular religion and other religions. The truth comes in many ways, but it's only going to be found if you're looking for it. |
