By Greg Vanden Berge Articles For Christians God Said What Videos Jesus' life couldn't have been easy and anyone who thinks that it was, probably needs to learn a little bit about what life was like when Jesus was alive. The Roman Empire was in its infancy and they controlled the community, where Jesus lived. The Romans viewed people like Jesus as potential slaves or slave labor. It wasn't like today, if you were roaming around with your friends and a Roman decided to kill you and your group, I doubt if anyone would have ever ask any questions. The Romans were cruel and didn't tolerate much, someone like Jesus would have been considered a threat to the Romans and that would be a good reason, to have him executed. He was starting to draw attention to himself as a prophet or the new leader of the Jews. Some people were starting to call him the King of the Jews and there was only enough room for one King and that was the Emperor of Rome. The Romans were constantly dealing with people like Jesus and wouldn't have given it a second thought to kill him. Jesus wasn't the only one stirring up trouble during those days. There were others like Jesus who were preaching and gathering followers during his times. Even after Jesus died, there were a couple of well-known figures who called themselves, the Messiah. It wasn't hard to gather followers, almost every one was uneducated and looking for a better life. There was the rich and there was the poor people and there was a lot more poor people than rich people. The rich treated the poor badly and Jesus was part of the poor people. To blame the Jews for Jesus' death, without blaming the Romans, and wouldn't be entirely fair. The Romans were killing anyone who was a possible threat to their new empire. They used fear to control their followers. Now I know where the Christians got it from, they used fear to control their followers also. The United States government also uses fear to control their society. Fear works and I can't even imagine what it would have been like to live during Jesus is time. If you think that Jesus was the only person talking about change, I would suggest that you learn more about early Christianity and the Roman Empire. You're going to be surprised, if you really search for the truth. |
