By Greg Vanden Berge Articles For Christians God Said What Videos Anyone that’s seriously interested in studying the Bible should join a Bible study group. You can study the Bible on your own if you really want to, but if you want to get some input and other peoples opinions, a Bible study group is one way to get the most out of studying Christianity. If you join a Bible study group that's only interested in church gossip or seems to have a specific agenda that doesn't match yours, ditch this particular group as fast as you can and find another one whose main goal is to actually study the Bible. Keep one thing in mind as you're studying the Bible, Jesus didn't write anything in the Bible and since he's the key figure of Christianity, don't get overly involved in the teachings from the Bible. Jesus had a few messages that were extremely important and most Christians seem to forget about them. Love your neighbor and love your enemies and help other people who are less fortunate than yourself. This should be your main goal as a Christian. If everyone in your Bible study group agrees on the same thing and no one ever questions anything, this might not be the best Bible group to belong to. Sometimes a little friction can stimulate your group to actually start thinking instead of listening. If one person dominates your Bible study group, this won't be very good either and could easily result in a class type atmosphere instead of a group seriously getting down to the nuts and bolts of Christianity with questions that they want answered for themselves and this might not happen if there is another agenda from a dominant type of personality. Always prepare a list of questions, arrive with a good attitude and remember your main objective is to learn about the Bible. |
