Taking Christianity Seriously

Most Christians take their religion very seriously and some of them will defend it until the day they die. Often these people are extremely faithful to their beliefs and seem to live very sheltered lives. I often look at these people as extremely close minded individuals.

Someone once said, “You can't take anything too seriously.” I try to live by this principle, and it has saved me more than once during my lifetime. One of the biggest problems with taking something to serious, is the problem that most people have, when they take themselves too seriously.

When you look at Christianity from an atheist point of view, this religion almost seems like a fairytale. There is a person that they call God and he created everything in seven days. There were amazing fights and wars, but those who believed in God, were protected.

God has one son and no others, but sends his only son down to earth to die to save his other creation, mankind. This son did not have a mortal father, but was born from a Virgin mother. He performed miracles and did a lot of good things, before he died to save humanity.

There are plenty of other things in Christianity, especially in the Bible that I'm not mentioning that clearly sound like fairytales. It's not hard to imagine, why an atheist or someone who belongs to another religion would never even think about joining Christianity.

I'm not making fun of Christianity, I'm trying to make a point here. Try not to take yourself too seriously and keep an open mind as you search for the truth about your religious beliefs.

I feel like I need to add one more thing here. If you do take your Christian beliefs seriously, that doesn't mean that you can't study your religion, to verify these beliefs. We really don't need another Bible thumper, who spouts off Bible verses, without truly understanding. If Christianity is a flourish, it needs Christians to understand Christianity.
