| Taking the Bible Out Of Context | ||||

By Gregory B Articles For Christians If you've never taken the time to read the Holy Bible, but consider yourself a Christian follower, I would like to make a suggestion that will guide you through your Christian faith a little bit easier. Start reading the Bible and stop spending so much time watching television. One of the worst things that I could ever imagine would be a Christian armed with another Christian's beliefs that aren't true. These Christians often go around proclaiming their religious beliefs as truth, with very little evidence to support their biblical claims. We really don't need another one of these Christians taking the Bible out of context. The Bible really isn't that difficult to read and interpret on the literal basis. You simply read the words, comprehend the meaning and then store the information in your mind to access later when someone ask you a question or you need to make a point. That sounds simple doesn't it? If it actually is that simple, why do thousands of ministers and church leaders take the Bible out of context and add their own interpretation. These people often use a simple Bible verse to make a point about something that the Bible verse itself, honestly isn't referring to. Someone told me one time that you can make the Bible say what ever you want it to say and people have been doing this for centuries. Whatever you think about slavery and women's rights, can be justified using the Holy Bible. Make up your mind to read the Bible with an open mind and don't try to read anything into it. If there are secret messages in the Bible, what makes us think that we would be able to understand and interpret them, anyway. Just read, comprehend and don't take the Bible out of context, believe me it's easier that way. |
