By Gregory B Articles For Christians One of the worst things that you can do, when learning about the Bible, is to surround yourself with people who agree with everything that everyone else in the group says. Most religious followers don't want to upset the apple cart and are afraid to speak out in fear of being ridiculed. Resistance and friction create heat and heat provides warmth. This is a simple scientific fact and you need to keep this in mind, especially if you're seriously interested in studying the Bible. If everyone thinks the same and never disagrees or questions anyone else in the group, you could have problems. Don't forget that your main focus is to study the Bible and studying the Bible could create a lot of friction, especially when the tough questions are asked. If no one else is going to ask these questions, you're going to need to step up to the plate and ask them yourself. If no one wants to ask the tough questions, hand everyone a couple of pieces of paper and have them write their questions down on it and place these questions into a box and pick one out at a time until they are all answered to the group's satisfaction. Here's a couple of tough questions that you're going to need to ask in your Bible study group. Was Jesus actually God? Did every animal on earth come from Noah's Ark? Is there actually a heaven? And what about all of the other people in history that didn't ever get the chance to read the Bible or know about Christianity? The truth about Bible study groups is that they don't answer the tough questions, it's more like a social gathering most of the time. There is plenty of wisdom in the Bible, but it wouldn't be a bad idea to find its some of your answers outside of it. |
