I would imagine 3400 years ago, things were a lot different than they are today. You can look into any history book and see that men were leaders in their communities, religions and households. It was written by men who lived in a society dominated by men. Why wouldn't the Bible be male chauvinistic?

The Bible often refers to women as second-class citizens who can be removed from their families if their husband was unhappy with them. In the Old Testament, the man simply has to state that he divorces his wife and she will have to leave their home. This might be shocking, living in today's society, but there are still places where this type of abuse is accepted.

Now here's the big one, God created man in his own image. I have often wondered if a woman was writing the Bible if she would have created the woman and her image and made man subservient to her. There are plenty of churches who worship Jesus' mother, The Blessed Mother Mary, yet it says nothing in the Bible about worshiping the mother of the Christian savior. Let's get back to the men.

It's hard to imagine living in a society today where men control and dominate their women. The Bible reading followers can effortlessly create a world dominated by men, if they choose to. If you choose to believe that women are inferior and should be subservient, the Bible has plenty of literature to support your beliefs. If however, you choose to treat women as equals, our society could advance even farther as some of these intelligent women become educated in fields like science, education and of course religion.

There are plenty of Christian churches today that will not allow women to hold positions where they have any control over men. When you talk to the men and women in these organizations, they agree with these beliefs. These women fully accept their roles and responsibilities within the church guidelines.

Yes the Bible was written by men who thought a little different along time ago. Even though times have changed, I continue to run into men who choose to dominate women and women who accept their servitude towards men. Most educated women will not allow themselves to be controlled by men, simply because a book written 2000 years ago, has a couple of ignorant paragraphs that allowed this to happen.

Everyone should be treated in a loving and kind compassionate manner. There is no need to have any race, gender or religious beliefs, convince us otherwise. There is no need for men to dominate women for women to dominate men, especially because someone wrote something 3000 years ago, that doesn't make sense today.
