What Matters Most to God? - Old Testament

First I like to start with the Old Testament beliefs in God and this would require you to forget about anything that you ever read in the New Testament. What really matters most to God? I'm referring to Jehovah or the God of the Hebrews in the Old Testament.

All we really need to do is read the 10 Commandments to find out what really matters most to God.

I am the only God, you shall have no other gods before me, I do not appreciate anyone making any idols to worship, never use my name wrongfully, keep the Sabbath day holy for rest, honor your mother and father, never murder anyone or commit adultery, do not steal or bear false witness to anyone and never covet any of your neighbors possessions including his wife.

You can add a bunch of things to this list, but that's what matters most to God.

Here's my personal opinion about what matters most to God. Remember this is my opinion and I don't expect everyone to believe it. God wants us to work hard and rest at least one day each week. He doesn't like his followers to worship false images or idols, because this makes him jealous.

You should never kill anyone or have sexual relations with anyone who you are not married to. It's not right to steal or bear false witness. In other words you should always do onto others, as you would like done to yourself.

If you don't like someone stealing from you, you shouldn't steal from them. If you don't like someone lying about your character, you shouldn't lie about theirs. Stay away from things that could lead you towards evil, like desiring something from your neighbor to fulfill your selfish needs.

In other words, if your neighbor buys a new car, that's nicer than your old one, does it bother you? Do you see things that other people have and want them, for yourself?

It's not really hard to figure out what the God of the Old Testament once from his followers. Be nice and respectful, love and cherish your God and do his will daily.
